The Knob

See this knob?

This knob locked me in the basement. Okay, so not really. In reality, it was this girl:

I went downstairs to get a scarf, gloves and earmuffs and when I went upstairs with loot in hand, the door was locked.
Luckily, I was wearing boots because when these footsteps were made:

I was grateful I had boots. So I ran around our house to see if I had kept the front door unlocked ... It was locked.

I knocked on the door and asked our Little Miss if she could open it, she could not ...
She started to panic, and so did I - amid my laughter.

So I told her to hang on and sprinted to our neighbor's house and said ...

"I'm locked out of my house and Little Miss is still inside ... I got locked in the basement, ran out the back, checked the front door, which was locked ...
Can I use your phone?"

I also asked her to pick up B-Man, since she is on the emergency contact list and they know her.

I called maintenance. They laughed and so did I.

I ran back to the front door.

While I waited for them, I called my Mr. He offered to come home, but I told him to stay put and enjoy a good laugh.

I missed my coat - it was kind of cold.

The maintenance man came ...

with the wrong key. I realized before he did. He said he checked the key before he came.

It was the wrong key.

He left. I called the Mr. again, just to add to his laughter.

Little Miss panicked. Really, really panicked. I suggested she watch TV, she said: Okay.

After that, I didn't hear from her at all - Thank you TV/babysitter. Luckily, it was turned to the Disney Channel and not to something weird.

The wind began to blow and I missed my coat a little more.

The maintenance man came again.

He had the right key.

I said thank you before I walked into the house and saw this ...

The knob is so obliging, minutes before, I said I'd rather not drive through the snow to pick up B-Man from school. It listened.
Thank you knob, trusted neighbor, maintenance man and Little Miss.
One more thing: knob, your days are numbered.
