Avatar Aang and the Little Princess

Halloween was a blast this year ... Enjoy the pictures!

Avatar:  The Last Airbender is a cartoon we watched as a family this summer.  I used the following image to create the costume:

B decided he wanted to shave his head and we went for it!

He had a lot of fun getting into character:

Our Little Princess was at home in her costume.  She twirled and twirled in her princess dress and loved every part of the transformation.  It didn't take a lot.  Just a few curls (thanks, Jeni!) and glitter spray.

Of the images I captured that night, this one ranks high among my favorites:

The costumes, the warm-er weather and the relaxing atmosphere helped create one of the best Halloween experiences we've had.
Even our pumpkins were happy.

Our Happy Halloween

Despite what these two photographs may indicate, Jack Sparrow (our Pirate) and Pinkalicious had fun celebrating All Hallows Eve (thank you Celtic people, candy corporations and costume creators).

The festivities began the Saturday before.  We headed over to Boo at the Zoo.  There was much candy and fun.  Little Miss refused to stand beside Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper (it IS a storm trooper, right?  B couldn't think of what it was really called and neither could I).  Whatever it was, Little Miss was terrified.

In the middle of the week, we went on a field trip, but you already know about that ... Last Friday was the Halloween parade at B's school.  He marched.  Little Miss and I watched.

During the parade, B showed us his pirate hook, TWICE.

Little Miss had a lot of fun eating cookies at B's class party ...

On Friday night, we went trunk or treating and ward Halloween partying.  I don't have pictures - weird.  One thing of note:  our chili won second place.

On Saturday, we carved pumpkins.

In truth, 3 of us carved, one of us played with seeds ... Played and played and played.

Another one carved and carved and carved - with one of those knives that cut can cut pumpkin, but not skin. The kids were entertained for several hours.  Several.

At the end, we were pleased with the results.  Mine and the Mr.'s are on the right; his is on top, mine is below.  Little Miss chose a pumpkin, but she was so entertained by the seeds and other slimy stuff that her interest in carving or painting her pumpkin waned.

We think our Jack O Lanterns accented the porch steps perfectly.

On Sunday, we didn't trick or treat, we decided to hand out candy instead.  B and Little Miss had a great time helping us with that and their help ensured a short evening as they both handed out HANDFULS of candy to each trick or treater.

Here's another look at our pumpkins.  Didn't B do a great job for his first time?  We think so.
Happy (Belated) Halloween!!
