Weekend at Bernie's

FYI:  Weekend at Bernie's is a remarkable movie.  It brings together all the 80's had to offer:  Bad hair, pastel clothing,  T-shirts and dress jackets and, of course, really great plots.  Watch it when it's really late and you've reached the point where you don't mind losing a few brain cells due to lack of brain activity.

It just so happens, one of my cousins (who is currently deployed) married a beautiful lady we like to call ... you guessed it:  Bernie.  This entry is about our weekend with her ... Meet the cast (isn't it incredibly ironic that my cousins named their daughters after characters from the movie?  ;)

We drove up around 8 on Friday, ate dinner and played Scrabble (we played twice because the first round was for "warm-up") ... The next day:

We played with water balloons and their "son" Toby, the big hairy guy on the left (Little Miss didn't take to him very well.  Even though he's a softy, I probably would have reacted similarly if I met a Toby who was so much bigger than me.):

Later, Bernie took some pictures of Little Miss and Tawny (she took a lot of pictures, in fact most of the pictures in this entry are hers) ...

The pictures were taken here:

We played (at one of the funnest playgrounds we've ever visited):

and we met some new friends:

We fed our friends:

We met a few big stars.  They must have liked us.  We can tell because we sat really close to them and they didn't splash us with a single drop of salt water:

We traveled through Atlantis and Bernie captured our photograph:

Then we went down a few rapids.  Three of us stayed dry, thanks to plastic sheets conveniently sold in "splash zones".

After snapping our pictures, Bernie took B to the "tide pools".  There, he was able to speak with a marine biologist.  He asked a lot of good questions and Little Miss slept in her stroller:

We made a lot of other stops, then we took a group picture:

Before leaving, we played a game then headed to the playground (it really is the funnest playground we've seen):

After all of this, we left and ate at Phil's (ie. some of the best baby back ribs we've ever had!):

At the end of day 2, we were pretty tired:

Sometime past breakfast and play time on the 3 day, we snapped a lot of pictures:

Then the girls walked into their house and we drove the 2 hours back to ours:

We can't wait to do this again!  Thanks Bernie, Tina and Tawny!
